On Monday, March 6, 2023, just after 4:30 am, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a stolen vehicle in the 500 block of Gassen Street in Luling, LA. The vehicle was recovered by a neighboring sheriff’s office.

During the course of the investigation, video surveillance obtained shows at least four subjects dressed in dark clothing burglarized seven unlocked vehicles and stole one unlocked vehicle with the key fob inside. The subjects attempted to enter several more vehicles but were unable to gain access due to those vehicles being locked. These incidents most likely occurred between midnight and 2 am on Monday, March 6, 2023.

Through investigation, sufficient evidence was gathered and detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant, signed by a 29th Judicial District Court Judge, for Deshawn Scott, a 23-year-old male from the New Orleans area for Theft of a Motor Vehicle and 7 counts of Simple Burglary. Scott is currently in the custody of a neighboring sheriff’s office for several charges relating to the stolen vehicle that was recovered.

This is an ongoing investigation.

We are urging anyone with any information including citizens in the area with home surveillance or Ring camera systems to review their video footage and to contact Detective Charles Floyd with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office at cfloyd@stcharlessheriff.org, (985) 783-6807, or (985) 783-1135.
