Severe Weather Update – February 28
Published 8:04 am Tuesday, February 28, 2023
WHAT: SLIGHT RISK and ENHANCED RISK of Severe Weather
WHEN: Thursday night
WHERE: All of southeast LA and southwestern and coastal MS
- Confidence is high that a strong disturbance will bring severe weather to much of the Lower MS Valley Thursday night with a narrow line of storms expected to move across the area. However, there is considerable uncertainty in how far south severe storms will occur.
The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:
Wind gusts greater than 60 mph will be possible
A few tornadoes will be possible
Heavy rainfall is not as much of a concern with the likelihood of the line of storms being fairly narrow, progressive, and weakening.
