Man on stolen ATV performs tricks poorly

On February 17, 2023, at approximately 5:26p.m., a Kenner Police Officer was patrolling in the 1100 block. of Williams Blvd. when he observed a Yamaha Raptor ATV (4-Wheeler) being operated in a reckless manner. The officer attempted to stop the individual using lights and sirens, however the individual ๐จ๐ข๐๐ก๐๐ at the officer and fled. As he was fleeing, in an attempt to show off and โimpressโ onlookers, the driver popped a wheelie and demonstrated for all to see that he in fact cannot handle a four-wheeler, as he threw himself off onto his backside and sent the four- wheeler traveling out of control into a parked car. After securing the four-wheeler the officer located the driver and pursued him on foot making the apprehension. The driver was identified as ๐๐ฒ๐ซ๐จ๐ง ๐๐จ๐ก๐ง๐ฌ๐จ๐ง ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ ๐๐๐ฐ ๐๐ซ๐ฅ๐๐๐ง๐ฌ. Johnson was found to be in possession of a 9mm magazine and 8 grams of marijuana. ๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ฐ๐๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ง๐๐ข๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ฅ๐๐ง ๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐ฐ ๐๐ซ๐ฅ๐๐๐ง๐ฌ.
Officers performed a detailed canvass of the path used by Johnson while fleeing from the initial officer and located a loaded Glock 9mm handgun with a loaded 30 round magazine and other evidence that linked Johnson to the gun. A gun trace will be performed to determine if the gun was stolen. A DNA search warrant was signed and executed while Johnson was still incarcerated at JPCC. Johnson was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, resisting arrest by flight, possession of illegal narcotics, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and hit and run. Johnson was transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries sustained when he fell off the four- wheeler.
