BATON ROUGE – After an extensive statewide search, LFF is excited to announce Louisiana’s 2023 Longest Married Couple, Ira and Margery Milan of New Orleans, along with the newest inductees into LFF’s 2023 Marriage Hall of Fame. On Monday, LFF hosted a private celebration to honor the title-holding couple, who recently celebrated their 81st anniversary.
Ira, 100 years young, is a World War II veteran who served as a U.S. Navy Seabee in the Philippines. Margery will be 100 in July. Together they have five children, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
LFF takes this moment to co-honor Lauris and Earline Broussard of Abbeville for their remarkable 82 years of marriage. As we prepared to crown them Louisiana’s Longest Married and celebrate at their home in Abbeville, La., we learned that Mrs. Earline had passed away. Our prayers and condolences go to the Broussard family, loved ones, and especially her sweetheart of 82 years, Mr. Lauris Broussard.
LFF President Gene Mills shared the following statement, “LFF is committed to building a culture of strong families. Each year, we highlight the contributions that faithful Covenant Keepers have made to Louisiana and their meaningful journey together and life recollections. We want to remind this next generation that lifelong marriage is good for both men and women, making you more likely to live longer, be physically healthier, mentally happier, less stressed, wealthier, better rested and enjoy an overall higher quality life.”
