Full Name: Pastor Forell Bering Sr.
Where are you from? Beautiful Downtown Norco, Louisiana
Tell us a little bit about yourself: I am the fifth child (the baby) out of five children! My parents saved the best for last! I am the father of three children, and I am also blessed with five grandchildren. I pastor two of the best churches on the planet, Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and New Pilgrim Baptist Church, both located in Reserve, Louisiana.
Who are some Black role models you look up to, and why?
My earthly father, Ernest Bering. He was an alpha man who loved his wife and his children dearly.
My spiritual dad, Isaiah Franklin, because of his convictions about the Bible and his no-nonsense approach to build the kingdom of God on the hearts of men.
What does Black History Month mean to you?
It’s a gas station to refuel our tanks. It’s a hospital to heal our wounds. It’s a boot camp to train our minds.
Why is it important to encourage diversity?
Because there are 12 gates in Paradise, and people will come from every nation, every creed, and every color. We should encourage diversity because it is God’s plan.
What changes would you like to see in the local community?
I would like to see us celebrate and love each other and stop hating each other.
