Allovus celebrates the Red, White & Blue

LAPLACE — “Allovus Celebrates the Red, White, & Blue” Carnival Ball will be held at St. Charles Catholic High School in LaPlace on Saturday, February 11, 2023.

Krewe of Allovus court members have been selected based on their participation in the LaPlace Area Recreational and Youth Organization (LARAYO) and Krewe of Allovus for the past 55 years. Family and youth activities are the focus of this organization.

Allovus is the oldest carnival krewe in the River Parishes. To build community spirit and celebrate Mardi Gras, the krewe was formed by members of LARAYO in 1965. That year, the first ball and parade rolled with Bertram Madere as Grand Marshal and chief assistants Arnold Labat and Kyle Madere along his side. The Allovus Krewe paraded until 1971, when they turned over the parade to the LaPlace Jaycees, who organized Krewe du Monde.

Captain Allovus LVI, Gary P Breaud

Captain Allovus LVI, Gary P Breaud, is married to the former Dana Ramil for 31 years. They have three children and two grandchildren. Their family has been members of LARAYO for many years. He coached his daughters in softball. He and his wife have been members of the Krewe of Allovus for 12 years, serving on the decorating committee through the years. His wife also served as secretary from 2016-2019. He was a Duke in Allovus XLVII and Ball Chairman from 2016 – 2019. His daughter, Rianna, was a maid in Allovus LIV. His dad and sister also served on past Allovus courts.

Queen Allovus LVI, Madeleine Marie Murphy

 

Madeleine Marie Murphy is the 24-year-old daughter of Michael and Giselle Murphy.  She is a 2016 graduate of St. Charles Catholic High School. She graduated from LSU in 2020 with a BS in political science and graduated from LSU Law School in May 2022.  She is currently a judicial law clerk in the 23rd Judicial District Court of Louisiana. Madeleine has been involved in LARAYO since the age of 6, swimming and playing softball. She also worked as a life guard and helped in concessions. Her parents have been members of LARAYO for 30 years, coaching and serving on the board and special committees. Madeleine has been a Junior Krewe member of Allovus for six years. She was a Maid in Allovus L in 2015.  Her parents have been Allovus krewe members since 1996, when her father was a Duke in Allovus XXXI.  He was King Allovus XL in 2005 with Madeleine being his Page. In her spare time, Madeleine enjoys cooking, watching LSU sports, and hanging out with friends and family.

King Allovus LVI Daryl Paul Cox

 

King Allovus LVI Daryl Paul Cox has been married to the former Anna Marie Wille for 35 years. They have two children, Christopher, married to Lynnsey L., and Rebeca, married to Alan J.  Jurisich. Daryl is employed by Cargill in Reserve as their electrical supervisor. Their family has been members of LARAYO for the past 22 years. Their children played ball and swam till they aged out into high school sports. Daryl has been on the board of directors for 14 years and was the president of the organization for the past 10 years. He and his wife have been members of the Krewe of Allovus going on 20 years, serving on the concession/decorating committee through the years.  His wife also served as secretary from 2014- 2016 and treasurer from 2014-2023. He was Duke Allovus XLIII and Ball Chairman from 2014 – 2016. He served as captain for the Royal Courts of LII, LIII and LIV (2017 – 2019). His son Christopher has been a krewe member for the past 15 years, helping with committee duties, and his daughter Rebeca Cox Jurisich was Maid Allovus XLV, Queen ALLOUVS LI and has been a krewe member also for the past 11 years, assisting with various committee duties. LARAYO and Allovus have become the heart of their family. As King LVI, he expresses his sincere thanks to the Krewe of Allovus for their support, hard work and dedication in continuing to hold the Allovus ball for the 56th year. Daryl has stated how humbled and honored he and his family are of him being selected as King LVI.

Maid Ashley Danielle Hymel

Ashley Danielle Hymel is the daughter of Robert and Allison Hymel of LaPlace. She graduated from Riverside Academy in 2021 and is a junior attending LSU Baton Rouge,  majoring in finance. Ashley played softball for five years, swam for seven years and was a lifeguard at LARAYO. Her father coached at LARAYO for 10 years, served as a board member for nine years and also served as an Allovus Duke in 2011.

 

 

 

 

Maid Emily Joan Hotard

Emily Joan Hotard is the daughter of Heath and Rachel Hotard and sister of Michael Hotard of LaPlace. Emily is currently a junior at Southeastern Louisiana University where she is majoring in marketing. The Hotard family has been involved in LARAYO since 2007.  Emily played softball at LARAYO from 2007 through 2015.  Her brother played baseball at LARAYO from 2009 through 2017. Emily’s father coached both softball and baseball at LARAYO from 2007 through 2017.  He also served on the LARAYO Board of Directors as the secretary and webmaster from 2010 through 2017.  Emily’s family has also been involved with Allovus since 2012, when Emily’s dad served as a Duke in Allovus XLVII.  The Hotard family is looking forward to continuing the Allovus tradition as they watch their daughter serve as a Maid in Allovus LVI.

Maid Hannah Marie Lowry

Hannah Marie Lowry is the daughter of Tricia and the late David Lowry. She attends Nicholls State University and will graduate in May 2023. She is employed as a PK2 aide at St. Peter Chanel School in Paulina. Hannah has been a member of LARAYO since she was 4 years old when she began swimming. She also played softball until the age of 10. She has served as an assistant swim coach at LARAYO for the past three years. Hannah served as a page to King and Queen Allovus XLIII, and her sister, Kaitlyn, was a maid in Allovus LIII.

 

 

 

Maid Olivia Marie Keating

Olivia Marie Keating is the daughter of Todd and Lori Keating of LaPlace. She is a junior at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University in Baton Rouge majoring in biology with plans to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Olivia played softball for 10 years, swam for 12 years, and was a lifeguard at LARAYO. Her parents have been involved with LARAYO and Allovus for many years. Her dad was a Duke in 2004, her sister a maid in 2014, as well as her grandfather and aunt, who were both former Allovus royalty.

 

 

Duke Ronald Travis Fox

Ronald Travis Fox is married to Kelly Sutton Fox and has three beautiful daughters, 12-year-old Sawyer, 9-year-old Londyn and 6-year-old Landriegh. He is the son of Sandy Fox Bordelon and the late Buster Fox. Travis graduated from Riverside Academy in 2000 and spent a couple of years at Southeastern before enlisting in the Army National Guard in 2002. He was deployed to Afghanistan for a year during Operation Enduring Freedom. He has been an operator at Valero St. Charles for the past 11 years and a member at LARAYO for the past seven years since his daughters started playing softball and swimming.

 

Duke Michael Joseph Borne

Michael Joseph Borne is the son of Lynne and the late Whitney Arthur Borne, husband of Brittany Chauvin Borne, and father of three children, Bentley, Baylen and Amelia Borne. Michael is a 2002 graduate of St. Charles Catholic High School and is now an operations shift superintendent at Marathon Petroleum in Garyville.  He and his family reside in Edgard. They have been a part of the LARAYO Community for the last four years. Michael is best known in the LARAYO community for his cooking.

Duke Cain Walson Charles Dufrene

Cain Walson Charles Dufrene resides in LaPlace with his wife, Meredith Miller Dufrene and their two sons, Cason and Cutler. Cain has dedicated his entire career to protecting the people of St. John the Baptist Parish, where he is chief of the Fire Department. Their family has been members of LARAYO for four years, but Cain’s family roots run deep in the organization. Cain is going into his third year serving on the Board. He thoroughly enjoys helping coach his son’s baseball team and cheering on the Barracuda swim team.

 

 

Duke Jeffery Daniel Autin

Duke Jeffery Daniel Autin of LaPlace is married to Amanda Rebaldo Autin. They have three children, Ily, Remy, and Jeffery Jr. Jeffery is a veteran of the United Sates Marine Corps and currently works as a process operator at Shell Norco Refinery. Jeffery and his wife have been involved with LARAYO since they were children, and he has helped coach his girls’ softball teams while being an active member in the organization. His daughter, Ily Autin, was a page for King Allovus LIV, David Ratliff.
