On January 29, 2023, at approximately 11:00 p.m. the Kenner Police Department received a burglar alarm at a business in the 100 block of Airline Hwy in Kenner. The alarm company further advised that due to video equipment, they observed a subject on the inside of the business’s enclosed area rummaging through the company’s property. Within minutes, no less than 6 KPD officers arrived on scene and surrounded the property. Officers observed the suspect inside of the business’s property wearing a ski mask and gloves, and carrying a reciprocating battery powered saw. Officers gave verbal commands to which the suspect answered back to officers; “𝙔𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙜𝙤𝙣𝙣𝙖 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙢𝙚!”. Officers complied with the subjects wishes and after a foot pursuit, the suspect surrendered several blocks away and was identified as Elliot Rami from St. Rose La. On Rami’s person, officers found 6 reciprocating saw blades, a ski mask, black gloves, black and grey “firm grip” gloves, a set of Ford keys, and cash. Officers located the saw on the property.
