BATON ROUGE, La. – The Community Affiliate network of Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) will celebrate Louisiana Arbor Day, which is Jan. 20, with the following events:
Jan. 19
4 p.m. – Keep Eunice Beautiful and Bulb & Blossom Garden Club of Eunice to plant a native tree at Eunice Fairground Park. Open to the public. For information, contact baltakisd@bellsouth.net.
Jan. 20
9 a.m. – Keep St. James Beautiful and St. James High School to plant trees at St. James High School.

Jan. 21
9:30 a.m. to noon – Keep Bossier Beautiful and the Bossier Parish Police Jury will host a tree planting along Arthur Ray Teague Parkway. Open to the public. Register to volunteer at www.keepbossierbeautiful.org. For information, contact lbryan@keepbossierbeautiful.org.
Jan. 28
9 a.m. to noon – Keep Covington Beautiful will host a tree seedling giveaway at the Covington Farmers Market. Open to the public. Seedlings are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. For information, contact info@keepcovingtonbeautiful.org.
The state of Louisiana designates the third Friday in January as Arbor Day to coincide with Louisiana’s tree-planting season.
Love the Boot Week, April 17-23, will provide the people of Louisiana with another opportunity to organize tree-planting events. Registration for this statewide cleanup and beautification effort will open Jan. 23 at www.lovetheboot.org.
