Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement agent cited a Meraux man for alleged deer hunting violations on Dec. 16 in Orleans Parish.
Agents cited Marvin Dupuis, 58, for failing to tag deer and failing to validate deer harvest. LDWF Senior Agent Salvador Mangano was on patrol and observed Dupuis operating a truck towing a trailer with an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) leaving a hunting area. Upon closer inspection, he saw fresh blood on the ATV. Senior Agent Mangano stopped the vehicle and during questioning Dupuis admitted to recently harvesting two antlered deer without tagging or validating them. Senior Agent Mangano seized an eight-point buck, a set of deer antlers and deer meat. The deer and deer meat were donated to the charity Hunters for the Hungry. Failing to tag and validate harvested deer carries up to a $350 fine for each offense. Dupuis may also face civil restitution totaling up to $4,066 for the replacement value of the deer. |
