| Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement agents cited a Destrehan resident for alleged deer hunting violations on Dec. 15 in St. Charles Parish.
Agents cited Jason Chapman, 42, for failing to tag deer, failing to validate deer harvest, and failing to comply with harvest card requirements.
LDWF agents received an anonymous complaint regarding the disposal of a processed deer within a garbage receptacle at a duplex residence in St. Charles Parish. Agents contacted Chapman at his home to execute a search warrant.
During the investigation, Chapman admitted to harvesting a six-point buck on a private hunting lease in Hahnville. The agents determined that Chapman failed to record his harvest as he did not tag the deer, nor did he validate the harvest within the required 72-hour period. In addition, Chapman did not complete the required harvest card record.
Agents seized the recovered meat associated with the unrecorded deer and donated the meat to a local charity.
Failing to tag deer, failing to validate deer harvest, and failing to comply with harvest record each carry a $100 to $350 fine and up to 60 days in jail.
Chapman may also face civil restitution totaling $1,624.61 for the replacement value of the deer.
