2 juveniles arrested in connection to LaPlace shooting

Two male juveniles from LaPlace have been arrested in connection to a shooting in LaPlace. A 15-year-old male was arrested December 15, 2022, and a 16-yeare-old male was arrested December 13, 2022.
On Sunday, December 04, 2022, about 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of Cartier Drive in LaPlace in reference to gunshots heard in the area. Upon arrival, officers learned from witnesses that juveniles were involved in a shooting in the backyard of a residence on Cartier Drive. No one was injured. A residence in the 1400 block of Meeker Loop near Cartier was damaged by gunshots.
Through investigation, detectives learned that the 16-year-old discharged the firearm, and the 15-year-old aided in the act and tampered with evidence pertaining to the investigation.
The 15-year-old was charged with accessory after the fact to illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities (felony), and accessory after the fact to aggravated criminal damage to property (felony). The 15-year-old is being held in custody at the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility.
The 16-year-old male was charged with the illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities (felony) and aggravated criminal damage to property (felony). The 16-year-old was released to a parent.
