Harry Joseph Hoover, born April 16, 1936, in Baton Rouge, LA, a resident of LaPlace, LA for 55 years, and passed away peacefully in his sleep at his new home Summerfield Senior Living, Hammond, LA, on Sunday night, November 27, 2022.
He was 86 years old. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice Andre Hoover; daughter Cherrie Hoover Broekhoven (Wayne); grandson, Zachary Hoover; parents William R. Hoover and Estelle Broussard Hoover; brother Louis Hoover and sister Ida Katherine Hoover Ford.
He is survived by his three children: Timothy Hoover (Camilla), Steven Hoover (Lisa) and Michael Hoover (Leigh). 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and his cherished dog, Levi.
Harry and his family lived in Baton Rouge where he attended Catholic High School. He married Janice on August 3, 1957 and moved with his wife and family to LaPlace in 1967. He worked for Eastern Airlines for over 35 years. He was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Choir for over 10 years. His other “big love” was the LSU tigers and was a football season ticket holder for over 32 years. Harry will be remembered for being a kind, loving and fun “Pop Pop” and will be missed by many.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 529 W. 5th Street, LaPlace, LA 70068, on Friday, December 2, 2022. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the Funeral Mass immediately to follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment in Roselawn Cemetery, 4045 North St., Baton Rouge, LA 70806 at a later date.
