Locals honored at POST Academy graduation

LAPLACE — Two officers with the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office were among 21 graduates of the Peace Officer Standards and Training program (POST) conducted by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Training Academy in Luling. The 17-week program included training in firearms, physical fitness, Louisiana criminal and traffic law, writing reports, conducting interrogations and general investigative techniques.

Deputies Gage Thomas and Tynisha Crushfield were recognized as certified Peace Officers November 10, 2022 during POST graduation at the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office Training Center in Luling. Thomas was recognized as class salutatorian.

Sheriff Mike Tregre said he proud of these officers for their successful completion of this rigorous and intense training.

Another local who graduated from the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office Regional P.O.S.T. Academy was Chante’ Schnyder, daughter of St. John the Baptist Parish District Six Councilwoman Tonia Schnyder. She received the Valedictorian Award for the 2022-36 class at the November 10 graduation.

Schnyder is a 2021 criminal justice graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and is currently employed with SELU’s Campus Police Department.
