LAPLACE – Louisiana Federal Credit Union (FCU) raised a total of $8,200 in less than two hours at its annual Sweet Soiree fundraising auction for the American Cancer Society (ACS) on October 20.
“Helping people is the foundation of what we do, and our team really put on an amazing display of that tonight,” said Rhonda Hotard, president and CEO of Louisiana FCU. “Cancer is something we are all familiar with. We have all been touched by it in one way or another. Sweet Soiree is just one of the ways we show our support for the ones still fighting and the survivors.”
Sweet Soiree featured a 50/50 raffle and a live auction featuring bid items generously donated by credit union employees. The auction historically consists of sweet confections like cakes, truffles, fudge and other baked goods. For attendees looking to cut back on sweets, the auction offered other diverse prizes, such as gift baskets, football tickets and many more nonedible options.
Louisiana FCU’s donation helps to support ACS’ efforts to assist people facing a cancer diagnosis today, educate people about risk reduction and early detection, and fund life-saving research to protect future generations.
