DESTREHAN — Each month, the physical education teachers at Ethel Schoeffner Elementary School host a student challenge.  Each month, there is a new focus and a different challenge.

September’s challenge focused on muscular strength and included tasks like push-ups and leg raises. The challenges are designed to take approximately five minutes a day for 30 days to get the students up and moving. These activities will help to create small daily habits that will help to re-activate and re-focus the brain when we’ve been sitting for a long time. They can also help to reduce stress, anxiety and frustration. Each month there is a drawing for a monthly prize from all students who have turned in their paper by the due date. Students are now working on October’s fitness challenge and are focusing on muscular endurance.

The following students are the winners of the ESE September Monthly Fitness Challenge. Chick Fil A in Kenner donated meals and sunglasses to the winners this month.
