On October 7, 2022, at 11:00 PM, Kenner Police received a 911 call from a citizen who reported seeing two suspicious male subjects running across the boat launch parking lot, wearing face masks and carrying handguns.
Kenner officers who were in the casino parking lot patrolling, responded to the call and within a minute were on scene and observed the two subjects matching the description, run to and enter a vehicle parked near the boat launch parking lot.
Officers descended upon the vehicle prior to it fleeing the scene and detained both suspects. A handgun was observed in the door compartment.
As officers investigated the suspicious person complaint, a second, separate, 911 call was received in which three victims reported they were just robbed at gunpoint, by two suspects, as the victims sat in their parked vehicle by the boat launch concession stand.
The three victims were located by officers and brought to the location of where the two suspicious persons were being detained. Both suspects were identified by the victims as brandishing a handgun and robbing them of money and personal belongings.
The two suspects were identified as a seventeen-year-old from New Orleans and a fifteen-year-old from Kenner.
Both juveniles were charged with two counts of Armed Robbery, one count of Attempted Armed Robbery and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
