LDWF Agents Investigating Fatal Boating Incident in Plaquemines Parish

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents are investigating a fatal boating incident that occurred on Oct. 8 in Plaquemines Parish.
The body of Jose Granados, 49, of Baton Rouge, was recovered near Empire around 9:30 p.m. His body was turned over to the Plaquemines Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death.
Agents were notified around 8:45 p.m. about a boating incident in the Empire Channel. Agents learned that an 18-foot vessel struck a rock jetty with three occupants on board. The three occupants were ejected from the vessel onto the rock jetty.
Granados did not survive the ejection from the vessel onto the rocks. The other two occupants were air lifted to University Hospital in New Orleans for severe injuries.
LDWF will be the lead investigative agency for this fatal boating incident.
