DESTREHAN — Last week, third-grade scholars at Ethel Schoeffner Elementary School explored measuring weight in grams and made a connection between grams and kilograms. They worked as teams to use benchmark weights to find items that they estimated the weight of. They used digital scales to determine if their estimations were accurate.

The third graders in Ms. Rapp’s science class were completing an Engineering Challenge. The students were creating sea walls to prevent storm surge from flooding their “community.”
