On last week, an Assumption Parish Grand Jury returned a true bill of indictment on 54-year-old Tyrone Chevers of 272 A Hwy 401 Napoleonville, LA for the charge of 1^st Degree Rape.

          On May 25, 2022, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a complaint regarding a possible rape. Detectives initiated an investigation into the complaint which alleged that Tyrone Chevers committed a rape upon a mentally handicapped individual. Detectives obtained evidence and statements which corroborated the information received from the complainant. Detectives obtained a warrant of arrest for Chevers who was subsequently booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

          Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney is the lead prosecutor on this case.
