Ouachita Parish– On September 12, 2022, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle crash which occurred on Louisiana Highway 151 at Weems Road. This crash claimed the life of 72-year-old Beverly A. Justice.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Buick Terraza, driven by 58-year-old Michael A. Robbins of West Monroe, was driving south on Louisiana Highway 151. At the same time, a 1998 Ford F-150 was traveling north. For reasons still under investigation, the Buick exited its lane of travel, entered the northbound lane, and impacted the Ford F-150 head-on.
Justice, who was restrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. Robbins, who also was restrained, was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries. The driver of the Ford F-150, who also was restrained, was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor; however, routine toxicology samples were submitted for analysis.
Although the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, Troopers would like to remind the public that inattentive and distracted driving is dangerous and is a leading cause of crashes in our state. It is important for motorists to pay attention to what is going on outside of the vehicle they are driving and to get plenty of rest in order to remain alert.
In 2022, Troop F has investigated 20 fatal crashes, which have resulted in 24 fatalities.
