St. James Sheriff’s Office released the following: The incident has ended. The subject surrendered to deputies. St. James Sheriffs Office negotiators were successful in resolving this incident with no injuries to the subject or deputies on scene. School officials have been notified.

The Sheriff’s Office is currently working an incident on Champion Drive in Vacherie regarding a subject armed and in a standoff with deputies. Sheriff’s office negotiators and SRT are trying to defuse the situation. School officials have been notified and St. James High School will postpone school until this is resolved. Please avoid Champion Drive. Updates will be released.
