LAPLACE — The new ALDI store at 2122 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace is set to open in mid-September, offering local families another option for grocery shopping.

The LaPlace location is part of ALDI’s expansion across the Gulf Coast. The company’s first New Orleans area location opened in June 2022 on Northshore Blvd. in Slidell, just four months after the first Louisiana location opened in Lafayette. The LaPlace store will mark the fifth location in the state.

As of August 18, the ALDI website displayed job openings for full and part-time store associate positions in LaPlace with a starting wage of $15.50 per hour.

In advance of the store opening, locals are encouraged to download the ALDI app to access weekly ads and limited time “ALDI Finds.”

According to a company press release, ALDI’s priority focus is “saving people money on food and products they want most by offering shoppers a curated selection of ALDI-exclusive brands.” The brand is known for organic and gluten-free food options, fresh produce and pantry essentials, as well as household items, pet supplies and seasonal products.

Customers who visit ALDI must insert a quarter to unlock a shopping cart. This serves as a deposit, requiring customers to return their cart to the corral after shopping to retrieve the quarter. Shoppers are also encouraged to bring their own shopping bags. In the event that a customer forgets to bring their own reusable bag, there will be various types of bags for sale at checkout.
