LULING — Artist Samantha Hallenus is bringing exciting craft activities to children in St. Charles Parish on Saturday, August 6.

Two art-focused events will take place at Renada Collins’ newly opened Honey’s Service Center, located at 613 Paul Maillard Rd. Ste. 100 in Luling.

From 12:40 to 1:50 p.m. on August 6, students can experience back to school crafting fun by decorating a pocket folder they can use for their school and art projects throughout the year. Supplies included with the $15 class fee include a glue stick, two tubes of paint, a pencil, a paintbrush and a pocket folder. The instructor will provide other supplies to be used during the course of the class, which will be limited to 12 participants.

Later that afternoon, children will be invited to create their own superhero from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m.

The cost for the superhero class is $10 and includes supplies. Children ages 6 and up are welcome. The instructor will work through the steps with the participants as to what creates a superhero and will provide a drawing activity.

Children can wear their own superhero gear during the event, and parents who attend are welcome to dress up with their children. A $2 discount will be given if an outgrown costume is brought to support a local charity. Costumes will be collected for Ween Dream. Costumes will be collected from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. on that day.
