LAPLACE — When Debra Preston became a notary public in 2019, her vision was to be a vessel to help people manage their affairs in a timely and flexible manner.

Preston joined the River Region Chamber of Commerce last week to cut the ribbon at her business, On-Site Notary Services LLC, in celebration of the new location at 1708 Chantilly Drive Ste. E in LaPlace.

On-Site Notary Services was previously located behind the St. Charles Parish Courthouse in Hahnville before sustaining significant damage from Hurricane Ida. Preston, a Luling resident and River Parishes native, has worked closely with the St. John the Baptist Parish community by partnering with Choice Title for real estate closings.

“A lot of the business has occurred in St. John Parish, so I thought it would be better to open an office there,” Preston said.

While the office is available to the public, Preston said notary work isn’t constrained to a specific building or site.

Mobile service has opened doors for Preston to travel to her clients and assist with small successions, wills, trusts, title transfers including act of donation, power of attorney, affidavits, general documents and other forms requiring notarization. She strives to provide timely and satisfactory service while helping people take the next step forward in life.

“When individuals can’t leave their home or their place of work, they will call me to come to them and do their notary work on-site as opposed to coming in the office,” Preston said. “Instead of people having to go to a lawyer, I hope I could provide a more efficient, inexpensive way to get their business handled.”
