St. John Parish Opens Temporary Shelters in Preparation of Severe Weather

St. John the Baptist Parish – Today, beginning at 3:00 p.m., St. John Parish is opening temporary shelters at Lake Pontchartrain Elementary School Gymnasium and West St. John High School Gymnasium, for residents in RV’s, Campers, and mobile homes, seeking secure shelter from severe weather.


·       The temporary shelters will open at 3:00 p.m. and remain open until severe weather is no longer a threat to St. John Parish.

·       Residents should bring their own food, water and other items needed to make themselves comfortable until weather is no longer a threat.

·       Residents in FEMA or State of Louisiana travel trailers (RV), modular home units or damaged homes are also encouraged to seek safe shelter at a relative or friend’s home if possible.
