Conditions are forecasted to start to deteriorate this afternoon and into the night with severe weather impacting portions of west and northwest Louisiana first. This system has the possibility of being a two day event moving across the state early Tuesday morning and into Tuesday afternoon/night.
Stayed tuned to local weather forecasts for changing weather conditions and alerts for emergency conditions. If you must travel, remain vigilant and exercise caution. Slow your speed, increase following distance, and wear your seat belt. Never drive down flooded roads or around barricades.
Road closures and detours can be found using the Louisiana Traveler Information System through several different methods including the 511 phone system, www.511la.org, LA DOTD Twitter accounts, and the “Louisiana 511” smartphone application.
Depending on the method utilized, the traveler information system allows access to valuable resources such as current road reports on crashes, weather related closures, and construction as well as real time traffic camera views.
If you experience difficulties or witness hazardous situations while on the highway, you may notify the nearest State Police Troop by dialing *LSP (*577) from your cell phone.
