City of Baker Fire Chief Arrested

Baker – On October 27, 2021, the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations Baton Rouge Field Office began a criminal investigation on the City of Baker Fire Department Chief, 49-year-old Christopher Hunt of Baker, after receiving a complaint of alleged payroll fraud.
The investigation revealed Chief Hunt manipulated time entries using a computer based software and made fraudulent changes in the system in which he financially benefited for hours he did not work. On March 7, 2022, LSP Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Chief Hunt from the 19th Judicial District Court in East Baton Rouge Parish for violation of LRS 14:138 Public Payroll Fraud, LRS 14:67 Felony Theft Over $5,000, LRS 14:73.5 Computer Fraud, and LRS 14:134 Malfeasance in Office.
On March 10, 2022, Chief Hunt surrendered himself to State Police and was transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he was booked accordingly.
