New Orleans– On March 4, 2022, just after 10:00 pm, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a two-vehicle crash on US 90B near Milepost #10.9 on the Crescent City Connection bridge in New Orleans. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 21-year-old Nadia Tims of New Orleans.
The initial investigation revealed that Tims was driving a 2016 Nissan Altima east on the Crescent City Connection bridge in the right center lane. At the same time, a 2007 Ford Edge was also driving east on the Crescent City Connection bridge in the right center lane, ahead of the Nissan. For reasons still under investigation, as both vehicles continued east, the front of the Nissan impacted the rear of the Ford.
Tims, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Tims later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the Ford suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Impairment on the part of Tims is unknown and routine toxicology results are pending. Impairment was not suspected for the driver of the Ford, however a voluntary blood sample was obtained and will be sent for analysis.
Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of safe decisions behind the wheel. While not all crashes are survivable, wearing a seatbelt greatly reduces the chances of being killed or seriously injured in a crash. Having a plan and making safe decisions could be the difference for tomorrow.
