St. John Fire Department reports more calls in 2021

- The drainage of the Dugas Canal and other canals on the West Bank of St. John the Baptist Parish came under fire during this week’s Parish Council meeting in Edgard.

LAPLACE — The St. John Fire Department recently released its Response Report for 2021, which included a total of 2,314 incidents. This is 382 more or a 19.8% increase over 2020.
The breakdown is as follows:
- Fire – 257
- Medical – 966
- Rescue – 18
- Hazardous – 225
- Service Call – 37
- Good Intent – 319
- False Alarm – 492
The St. John Parish Office of Fire Services provides fire, emergency medical, hazardous
materials and technical rescue services to everyone who lives, works or visits St. John
the Baptist Parish.
