FEMA assistance for households tops $1B, including $46M for St. John Parish

LAPLACE — FEMA has provided more than $1 billion dollars in grants to more than 550,000 individuals and families in the 25 parishes approved for recovery assistance after Hurricane Ida.

For St. John the Baptist Parish, more than $46 million in individual assistance has been approved for 14,520 households, including

  • more than $14 million in repair assistance
  • more than $12 million in temporary rental assistance
  • more than $17  million in assistance for other needs.

More than 4,100 households are checked into hotel rooms paid for directly by FEMA, and 500 of those households are from St. John Parish.

November 29 is the deadline to apply with FEMA—online at DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 800-621-3362, or at a Disaster Recovery Center.
