Man wanted for shooting of 16-year-old arrested in St. James

Maurice Honor, Jr. has been arrested. At approximately 1:25 pm today, Honor turned himself in at the Convent Jail and was accompanied by his attorney. Honor is awaiting the setting of bond.

On November 4, 2021 at approximately 11:02 pm, the St. James Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a shooting that had taken place on Collins Street in Vacherie, LA. Deputies responding to the shooting discovered a blue Dodge Challenger near the intersection of LA 18 and Collins Street. The vehicle was occupied by two subjects. The passenger of the vehicle, who was identified as David Harris (16 years old from Vacherie, LA) had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Jordan Michael Keller (28 years old from Vacherie), was not injured. Detectives discovered the motive for the shooting was a drug transaction that turned deadly.
A warrant has been issued for Maurice Honor, Jr. (18 years old from Vacherie) charging him with one count of First-Degree Murder, one count of Attempted First-Degree Murder, and one count of Attempted Armed Robbery. Maurice Honor, Jr. is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached by anyone but law enforcement.
