LUTCHER — It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon as the Lutcher Bulldogs took on the Donaldsonville Tigers on their home field, as they sought to gain another victory to their awesome season thus far. Lutcher prevailed with a 49-22 win over the Tigers.

The Bulldogs came into the game with a record of 3-3 on Homecoming Saturday. The Bulldogs made big stops and long plays in the first quarter to make the first score 7-0 with a touchdown by D’Wayne Winfield with 2:17 left. The
Bulldogs line stayed strong to keep the Tigers from making any score, especially after an 80-yard drive down field to come up empty- handed, ending the first quarter 7-0.

Both teams seemed to be haunted by penalties in the first half, but the Bulldogs still gained significant yardage over the Tigers. The Bulldogs’ Winfield came through again to contribute another touchdown with 5:10 and lead the half with a 14-0 score over the Tigers. Detillier made the final touchdown of the half for the Bulldogs and made the halftime score 21-0, with the Bulldogs in the lead.

Going into the second half, the Tigers came alive, putting two scores on the board along with two 2-point conversions. But the Bulldogs answered with two more touchdowns to their score, making the score 35-16 in a matter of four minutes of play within the third quarter. The Bulldogs still managed to give up yardage with penalties, but the Tigers just didn’t seem to capitalize on the Bulldogs’ mistakes. In the fourth quarter, the Tigers fought hard to score again as well as the Bulldogs added to their score. The final score for this Lutcher victory was 49-22. Both teams played well offensively in the second half, but Winfield seemed to be too much for the Tiger defense to contain as he led the Bulldogs to another win.
