George “Cootie” Edward McKinney Sr, born 10/26/1952 in Killian and raised in LaPlace, LA, went to heaven on 10/21/2021 joining his beloved parents Shirley Timberlake-Scioneaux and Elmore “Pat” Scioneaux.
Cootie was happily married to and is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann McKinney; brother John “Johnny” McKinney; children George “Shawn” (and Kelly) McKinney and Misty (and Miguel) McKinney-Jimenez; grandchildren Heidi (and James) Newgard, Heather Fontes, Heath McKinney, Gloryia and Luis Jimenez; and great grandchildren Benjamin Fontes, Huttson and Paisley McKinney, and Hadlee Stimmerman.
Cootie lived in Oregon for the past 20 years. He went to Leon Godchaux High School and in 1971 joined the United States Army. He worked internationally as an electrical instrumentation engineer. Cootie was a Cajun who loved to listen to country music and sing praises to God. His favorite things to do were spending time with his family and camping outdoors. He had a sense of humor and was a great story teller. He enjoyed life and had a heart for children.
A wake will be held at Attrell’s Newberg Funeral Chapel at 207 Villa Rd, Newberg, 97132 from 4-8 pm on Sunday October 23, 2021. The funeral service will take place Monday October 24, 2021 from 9-10 am at the same location. The burial will be at 11 am at Crescent Grove Cemetery located at 9925 SW Greenburg Rd, Tigard, OR 97223.
