Pop-up hiring event comes to LaPlace; many opportunities available following Hurricane Ida

LAPLACE — Express Employment Professionals is holding a pop-up hiring event to bring awareness to many employment opportunities in the area following the devastation of Hurricane Ida.
The hiring event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24 in the overflow parking lot of Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church at 1809 Greenwood Drive in LaPlace.
There will be hiring opportunities for laborers, warehouse work, office services, carpenters, drivers and demolition work.
Individuals must bring an original, government-issued photo ID/driver’s license and either an original social security card or birth certificate. These documents are required per federal guidelines. Individuals must be drug-free and at least 18 years old to qualify.
“As you know, our communities have been faced recently with disasters that are creating hardships for our neighbors, friends, colleagues and local businesses. Our communities are suffering severely,” said Sherri Cambre of Express Employment Professionals. “We are attempting to help relieve some of the stressors that arise in such cases by providing employment opportunities to those who may need employment assistance by going out into the local communities and conducting hiring events. Our hope is that you are encouraged to help your community as well and can help us by sharing this information with others who you know.”
