LAPLACE — Child Advocacy Services Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program is looking for five new volunteers. CASA volunteers are provided 30 hours of training in preparation to serve a child navigating the foster care system. For a child to have a CASA walking alongside them during this vulnerable time can make a positive impact. Children with a Court Appointed Special Advocate are more likely to find a safe and permanent home, half as likely to re-enter the foster care system, and more likely to succeed in school. Won’t you take that step to become an advocate for a child?

Two trainings are scheduled for Fall 2021. The training is a blend of in-person and virtual sessions involving one night of instruction per week for six weeks. The first session starts on September 13, 2021. The second session starts on November 1, 2021. You can complete an application on the Child Advocacy Services website at https://childadv.net/become-a-volunteer

Once an application is completed, a recruiter will contact you to explain the next steps. For more information about Child Advocacy Services, contact Donna Bliss at dbliss@childadv.net.
