RESERVE — The St. John the Baptist Parish Department of Health and Human Services recently distributed USDA surplus food to residents at West St. John High School on the West Bank and at REGALA Gym on the East Bank.
The distribution was held in a first-come, first-served drive-through format. Health and Human Services sponsors this event every other month to assist families in St. John Parish. Cynthia Clifton, extension nutrition agent with the LSU AgCenter, participated in the June commodities distribution by handing out nutrition information and incentives for cooking. It was a hot but enjoyable day and a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community.
