The S.C.S.O. recently received a complaint of a door-to-door salesman attempting to solicit sales for the ADT alarm company. The complainant indicated that the salesman was working in the Ormond area of Destrehan, LA.
Currently, there is only one solicitation permit issued in St. Charles Parish and it is for a company that sells educational products.
Citizens that wish to check the most recent door-to-door solicitor list in St. Charles Parish can go to www.stcharlessheriff.org and click the link that says “Approved Solicitors”.
If anyone experiences a solicitor at their residence, ask them to show their Sheriff’s Office issued Solicitor’s Permit. If they don’t have one, ask them to leave and immediately contact the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
We issue these permits to help citizens have safe interactions with solicitors that understand parish rules and regulations, they work for a reputable company, and they can pass a criminal background check.
If citizens wish to report an incident, please contact (985)783-6807.
