Coastal flood warning extended

St. John the Baptist Parish – There is no longer a threat of impactful heavy rainfall or severe weather however the National Weather Service has extended the Coastal Flood Warning until 4:00 p.m. Saturday.

St. John will experience minor to moderate coastal flooding until a shift in wind direction which is now forecast for early Sunday.  

Road Closures/High Water

– I/55 Southbound and Northbound ramps at US 51

– I/10 Westbound on/off ramps at US 51

– 1/10 Eastbound Off Ramp at US 51

– Highway 51 low road

– Peavine Road

Please avoid these areas if possible and DO NOT drive through high water or flooded streets. Updates can be found at 511la.org.

The Parish is also closely monitoring a low pressure system over the Western Gulf of Mexico that could bring heavy rain to SE Texas and SW Louisiana however no major impacts are currently expected for our area.
