St. John the Baptist Parish – St. John Parish is experiencing minor coastal flooding due to prolonged southeasterly winds and high tides.

According to the National Weather Service, tidal flooding will be at its peak during high tide each day through Friday night and we can anticipate minor street flooding in low-lying areas and areas near the Lakes until the winds turn in our favor. According to forecasters, conditions will start to improve by Saturday.

Motorists are urged to use extreme caution in these areas and DO NOT drive through flooded streets. It is unsafe for drivers and wakes could push water into homes. Turn around, don’t drown.

The on/off ramps to I-55 at Exit 209 in Laplace and the low road on Highway 51 remain open at this time. Please dial 511 for the latest on road closures.
