LAPLACE—Sheriff Mike Tregre recently accepted a check from Greg Maurin of Keep St. John Beautiful for new surveillance cameras to be used throughout St. John as part of the parish’s litter abatement and beautification program. Litter/illegal dumping hot spots will be monitored with the surveillance cameras. Those caught in the act of littering or dumping illegally will be fined and ordered to remove litter/debris.
Sheriff Tregre and Maurin are always working to combat the negative effects of litter on our community.
“We find it hard to understand why anyone would think littering is OK,” Sheriff Tregre said.
Sheriff Tregre is calling on residents and businesses to help clean up our community. “Look around your neighborhood or business and make sure it is free of litter and kept tidy,” he said.
