BATON ROUGE, LA – Attorney General Jeff Landry issued the following statement after his office obtained a jury conviction late Friday night of former St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Rickmon on charges of sexual battery of a minor and attempted third degree rape:
“The lifelong scars of sexual abuse cut even deeper when the victim is a minor. These horrific crimes are especially egregious when perpetrated by people in a position of public trust and authority. This verdict is the culmination of bravery by the crime victims and exceptional prosecutorial efforts by my Assistant Attorneys General Winston White and Amanda Martin. I pray this conviction can provide healing and closure for the victims and their families.”
