Local couple face several drug charges

Stephen Young of Reserve and Danita Marie Gomez of LaPlace were arrested May 10 for several drug charges after a traffic stop.
A Special Operations Division K9 Unit was on proactive patrol and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Young. Young, 60, led officers on a short vehicle pursuit, and subsequently was taken into custody without incident. During a probable cause search of Young’s vehicle, officers located a small amount of marijuana and heroin.
Based on further investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for a local hotel room where Young was staying. During a search of the room, detectives located 44 grams of heroin, 117 grams of marijuana, five grams of crack cocaine, three packs of Suboxone, a digital scale, packaging for sales and distribution of illegal narcotics and other drug paraphernalia.
Young’s girlfriend, Danita Marie Gomez, 50, who was staying in the hotel room with Young, also was taken into custody without incident.
Young was booked with flight from an officer by vehicle (misd), view outward or inward through windshield or windows; obscuring prohibited; driving on right side of road; exceptions; prohibited acts, drug paraphernalia (misd); possession with intent to distribute heroin (felony); possession with intent to distribute marijuana (felony); possession of suboxone (felony); possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine (felony). He is being held in custody in lieu of a $122,000 bond.
Gomez was booked with prohibited acts, drug paraphernalia (misd); possession with intent to distribute heroin (felony); possession with intent to distribute marijuana (felony); possession of suboxone (felony); and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine (felony). She was released May 12.
