Hahnville, LA – In the event of a natural disaster, severe weather, or local emergency, St. Charles Parish residents now have an improved way of receiving vital information. Effective immediately, the Parish has launched SCP Alerts to help keep residents, businesses and visitors better prepared and able to respond more quickly and confidently to critical incidents.

Registration is easy. Simply text SCPALERTS to 888777 or enroll at scpemergencyalerts.com. When signing up online, you can customize your alert preferences. When you text to sign up, you will receive all alerts.

SCP Alerts is designed to alert residents and visitors about various events, ranging from weather-related updates, and law enforcement emergencies to general announcements, such as messages from President Jewell.

“SCP Alerts delivers the information our residents and visitors want and the important alerts they need. From evacuations to neighborhood boil orders, this will be a critical tool to keep people informed and safe when it matters the most,” said Parish President Matthew Jewell.

The new platform features multiple contact methods, two-way communication and updated weather alerts. The St. Charles Parish Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management will oversee the tool and will work with other area department agencies to send notifications

Messages will be sent to residents via their preferred communication – cell phone, SMS (text), home phone, email and more – to ensure real-time access to potentially lifesaving information. Residents listed in the 911 database will be automatically subscribed to alerts by residential phone, but SCP Alerts allows everyone to self-register and provide additional contact information.

SCP Alerts is powered by Everbridge, the worldwide leader in Critical Event Management and unified emergency communications.
