Public hearing of 2021 HVAC Program to be held April 6

LAPLACE — A public hearing in regards to the HVAC Improvement Program will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 6 in the St. John the Baptist Parish Council Chambers Room located at 1811 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace.

The purpose of the hearing is to solicit public comments on the proposal. According to the CDC, upgrades/modifications to HVAC systems can improve air quality and minimize the spread of airborne infectious diseases, including COVID-19.

All residents, particularly persons of low and moderate income and residents directly impacted by COVID-19, are encouraged to attend the public hearing and submit comments. The project will serve 51% or greater of low to moderate income residents. No displacement of people should occur. Information about performance in other CDBG programs will be available at the hearing.

LCDBG funds will be used to prevent the spread of COVID-19 through improvements of their HVAC Units. The maximum grant amount is $1 million.

The target area consists of the following public facilities:

 

  • Council of Aging Reserve – 214 Regala Park Rd. Reserve
  • John Parish Health Unit – 473 Central Avenue Reserve
  • The Reserve Department of Motor Vehicles – 4034 W. Airline Hwy. Reserve
  • The Department of Health & Human Services – 128 Central Avenue Reserve
  • Edgard Courthouse – 2393 Highway 18 Edgard
  • The REGALA Gymnasium – 200 REGALA Park Drive Reserve

 

All citizens, particularly residents of the St. John the Baptist Parish Community, should submit their views and proposals before Tuesday, April 13, 2021 to the St. John the Baptist Parish Office.
