Hahnville, LA – St. Charles Parish will host its 13th annual Trash Bash event to promote the removal of litter from our streets on Saturday, March 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“It is important to keep our parish clean and free of litter and debris for both our quality of life and to protect the environment,” Parish President Matthew Jewell said. “Not only does litter make a bad impression for residents, but it does for businesses as well. We hope that residents gather safely as household groups to show pride in our community and keep St. Charles Parish a clean place to live.”

Small family groups that live in the same household are encouraged to participate as one group to keep volunteers safe while participating. Volunteers can choose an area to clean up or be assigned a place to pick up, and equipment will be provided for participants, including pickup sticks, gloves and trash bags.

All are strongly encouraged to sign up ahead of time as individuals or groups at www.stcharlesparish-la.gov/trashbash or by calling 985-331-8604. The deadline to register for Trash Bash is March 3.

After completing the litter removal, participants will drop off their equipment at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, where they will be provided with lunch to-go.

Event sponsor United Way of St. Charles will offer prizes for the groups that collect the most trash. All participants also will be entered to win an iPad and an Apple Watch courtesy of Entergy. The drawing for the raffle prizes will take place at the parish council meeting on March 15.
