Sheriff Champagne announces that over the course of the last two days, detectives have worked tirelessly investigating the shooting that occurred on February 7, 2021 in the 100 Block of Killona Drive in Killona, Louisiana.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Jerome Isom, a 38-year-old resident of Killona, and another person, were working on a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Killona Drive in Killona Louisiana. Shortly before 4:30 p.m., an unknown black male subject wearing a black face covering, carrying a rifle, quickly approached and began firing upon them. Isom was shot multiple times, causing him to succumb to his injuries. The second victim was grazed by a bullet and sustained, a non-life-threatening injury. Immediately after the shooting, the suspect fled the scene towards La 3127 in a dark colored Nissan Altima. Detectives have located a dark blue Nissan Altima, in Vacherie Louisiana, which is believed to have been used in the shooting.
Further investigation led to the discovery of additional shooting incidents that occurred in both St. James Parish and St. John Parish. Information leads detectives to believe that the shootings in all three Parishes are related and the shooting, which occurred in Killona, was done in retaliation as a result of those incidents in St. John Parish and St. James Parish.
Sheriff Champagne wants the public to know that detectives from all three agencies are working together closely to ensure justice is served for these heinous acts which have occurred.
If anyone has information about the incident, they are urged to contact Detective Jenni Barrette of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 783-6807.
