God remembers us when we are drifting

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

We’re only a few weeks into 2021. Did yours begin with an explosion of good news, or do you feel like you are limping into the new year saddled by old, or even brand-new challenges?

Personally, I’ve had a little of both. And whether I feel as though I’m on top of a mountain, or drifting in a flood of circumstances trying to keep my head above water, my heart turns toward the One Who is worthy of my worship.

God consistently reads my thoughts, soothes my soul and stills my questions with the reassurance of His love. I often find His comfort from the simplest of phrases.

A phrase from the Bible has been my source of comfort lately. It was in the account of Noah. He and his family were cooped up in an ark filled with animals (and the noise and smells those animals produced) as they floated on the water that had flooded the earth.

Then, right in the middle of the story, Genesis 8:1 reads, “But God remembered Noah…” God knew exactly where Noah was and soon caused the water to recede, and the ark to rest on a mountain.

I believe that God remembers us, too. Even when we feel as though we’re drifting into doubt and can’t see the end of the storm, like Noah, we are not forgotten. May that thought anchor us this year.
