RESERVE – Congressman Garret Graves, representative for Louisiana’s Sixth Congressional District visited DSC Dredge’s corporate offices and met with owners (and brothers) Robert and William Wetta. Graves’ financial director, Mrs. Shannon Guidry, accompanied them.
During the visit, Congressman Graves discussed various important matters that included, but were not limited to restoration projects around the southern Louisiana area and the Highway Bill and its $135 million dollar grant, one of the largest transportation grants in America. Also discussed were the effects of COVID-19 and the workforce; dredge trends; industry investments and tender requirements.
Congressman Graves was pleased to hear about the international connections and contracts DSC had gained in countries such as Italy and Bangladesh, and how the company was helping the US build ties with the Indo-Pacific market. He was also very impressed by the newly released technology, DSC VISION, that DSC rolled out earlier this year, stating, “this is great and very exciting”.
After their conversations, Congressman Graves was taken on a tour of the Reserve facility, which ended in front of a Marlin dredge built for Silvi Concrete, which is owned by the Silvi family; long-term supporters of DSC.
“It was an absolute pleasure to have this opportunity to meet with Congressman Graves and discuss matters of importance to our industry. While he is our Congressman, he definitely does not lack experience in public service. We greatly appreciate his support, and would like to congratulate him on his re-election as we look forward to the future,” stated Bob Wetta, president and CEO.
