Registrar of Voters releases important dates for the Dec. 5 election

VOTE: Polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 5

 

LAPLACE — Wednesday, Dec. 1 will be the last day to request an absentee by mail ballot for the Dec. 5 election. Friday, Dec. 4 will be the last day for the Registrar to receive voted absentee ballots, prior to Election Day on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Early voting will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20 through Saturday, Nov. 28, excluding Sunday, Nov. 22, Nov. 26 (Thanksgiving Day) and Nov. 27 (Black Friday).

Registrar of Voters offices are inside the Edgard Courthouse, located at 2393 Highway 18, and the St. John Parish Government Complex, located at 1811 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.

St. John the Baptist Parish residents will vote on a proposed amendment that asks, “Do you support an amendment to allow the governor to appoint a person who resides out-of-state to serve as an at-large member of a public postsecondary education board of supervisors?”

St. John Parish voters, depending on the individual’s precinct, may also vote on electing a member to the Republican State Central Committee (Tyler Dufrene or Garrett Monti) or electing a judge to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal (Sharrolyn Jackson Miles of LaPlace or incumbent Jude G. Gravois of Vacherie).
