TURKEY: More events are in the works
LAPLACE — Damon Perrilloux, Andre Barritt and Cardell Coleman of the No Traction Car Club will be hosting a turkey giveaway from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 at Winn-Dixie in LaPlace.
This giveaway is open to all, and no registration or identification is needed. Perrilloux said the group has a goal to give away at least 200 turkeys this year, building upon the success of last year’s event.
No Traction held its first turkey giveaway just in time for Christmas 2019. During that event, more than 120 members of the community were blessed with a holiday meal.
“We’re just trying to give back to the community and let them know that we are here and we care about everybody,” Perrilloux said.
Perrilloux, Barritt and Coleman formed a strong bond over their shared interest in cars. The three young men started the No Traction Car Club, and they are looking to build a presence in St. John the Baptist Parish by hosting community events.
When social distancing reigned supreme, No Traction still found a way to give back by having graduation parades for 2020 seniors.
“We are just getting the events started because of COVID,” Perrilloux said.
“Recently, we had a car meet on Belle Terre. We’re kind of new to it, and we’re trying to show the world that we have a car club here in LaPlace. They have clubs in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, and we wanted to start our own thing.”
